Yesterday we went canoeing. We went on the Elkhart river, from Shanklen Park to Ox Bow Park. Oma and Opa rented the canoes. It was fun, Mark and I shared a canoe. The river was fun, some parts were hard but fun. After that we had a party at Oma’s and Opa’s house for the 4 of July!


Playing in Color

Today we went to the Colors for Kids 5K run, they do it once a year. They give you one or two bags of powdered chalk and you decorate yourself and then you run and you get colored all over. It was a 5k run, it felt short. We had fun. I hope we do it again. 

Second Soccer Game

On Monday I had a soccer game, we had a tie 4-4. The team we were playing against was good.

We have a game today at 6:30 at Goshen College. We will be on field 5 on the opposite side of the bleachers.

I started soccer in April!

We do GYSO (Goshen Youth Soccer Organization).

My team name is Scott Signs., My number is 3– Andrea wanted it to be 7. My coaches are coach Raul and coach Tony. My team is an all boy team so I am excited!

All my games are at Goshen college, and here is my schedule.

  • 4 May on Field 5 at 6:30,
  • 11 May on Field 5 at 6:30,
  • 18 May on Field 6 at 5:30,
  • 25 May on Field 6 at 5:30,
  • 1 June on Field 6 at 5:30,
  • 8 June Tournament TBA.

My first game on 27 April we won, 4-3! I am defense. I had lots of fun! Hope to see you at a game soon!

Last Tooth Fortress

The other day, I lost my last tooth! I made a fortress for the tooth fairy to get through.The black “antennea” things are tooth fairy zappers.  The camera is for taking pictures, the dogs are to bark at the tooth fairy.  The space guy is top of the lid and he has a repellant.  A scary monster guy is hiding inside to scare and try to tickle the tooth fairy.  The guy on the bike is a police man in case the tooth fairy tried to take the tooth without paying for it.

The tooth fairy got through.  I did not get any pictures or hear any noise.  I guess she is so fast, my fortress was not good enough.

Baking Cookies

Momma let me make cookies today. Here is the recipe I used:

  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 Tbl molasses (or more if you like it!)
  • 1 cup browned butter (cooled)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1 cup raisins (soaked in water and drained)
  • 1/4 cup each dark chocolate M&M’s, milk chocolate chips, white chocolate chips and dark chocolate chips.

Cream together butter, sugar, molasses and eggs.

Add remaining ingredients and stir well.  It will be very thick!

Roll into balls, roll in sugar and place on cookie sheet.  Flatten with a glass.  Sprinkle with more sugar if you want.

Bake 350 degrees F for 15 minutes.  Remove to cool on rack.  Eat and enjoy!


Alpaca Shearing

Angora Goat

Yesterday, We helped our neighbors, the Beers, shear their alpacas; another family showed up with their angora goats. This year I swept the pads and brought in the alpacas. Megan took in Finn, she likes him a lot. The goats took three times as long as the alpacas.

We had fun and hope to do it next year.

On Saturday we played with lights. Mommy took long exposure pictures while I stood still and Andrea and Megan traced me with glow sticks and a flashlight. We had fun. I hope to do again soon.  

Adrian and Megan’s Party Mix

Megan and I made party mix today. We changed our recipe to make it even better!

  • 3 cups Corn Chex
  • 3 cups Rice Chex
  • 3 cups Cheeze Bugles
  • 2 cups Extra Dark, Extra Salty Beer Pretzels
  • 2 cups Rye bagel chips, broken in half
  • 2 cups Garlic Bagel chips, broken in half
  • 1 1/3 stick Butter
  • 5 Tbl coconut oil
  • 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 10 dashes Franks Red Hot Sauce
  • 5 cloves mashed garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of your favorite seasoned salt recipe
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Put all the crunchy stuff in a big bowl.

Melt the butter and coconut oil over low heat. Add the garlic and start browning the butter.

Taste and adjust seasonings if needed. We like it with less salt, so you might want to add more.

Put crunchy stuff on cookie sheet with sides and pour butter with seasonings over while stirring.

Bake at 250 degrees until mix is dry (about 1 hour and a half) Stir every so often.  Cool and store in an airtight container, and be sure to share!
