Soccer – 17 May

On Thursday we had a game, we either tied (6-6) or won (6-7). The ball went back and forth across the field. Once we almost got the ball into the goal, but it went on top of the goal and got stuck. The goalie had to jump to get the ball.

I don’t know the exact score because of a crazy play our team made.  The goalie came out of the goal to get the ball.  He missed the ball.  Our team came up, stole the ball from goalie, who was still not up from missing the ball and was not touching the ball in any way and made a goal.  The referee did not count the goal and we can’t figure out why.  Our coach said it should have been a goal and he did not know either.

Flying Kites

We went to the park and flew kites. Only one worked and all of us played with it. The wind blew good then it stopped and kept blowing good then stopping. We had a contest on who could keep it up the longest. We do not know if Andrea or I won. Once we were done we had doughnuts for lunch.

Soccer

I am playing soccer with GYSO again this year.  I am on the 6th to 8th grade  boy’s team.

I like my coach, he comes up with new ways for us to practice.  Yesterday we jumped over hurdles and ran around cones. He also encourages me to try hard.

We had our first game and the score was 1-3.  We have a make up game today at 6:30. Hopefully our corrected uniforms will be in!  There was a mix up on everyone’s shirts 🙂

Here is my schedule if you want to come.  We usually play on Thursdays on field 7 (on the  behind Goshen College, though there are a few other days.

Hiking

Two weekends ago, we went to our friends’ house.  We have been friends with the Sellers since Mark was little.

Megan, the older boys, and I made a large train set. It had houses and buildings with it. One Megan used to dump people into trains. Another building turned the trains so it would dump, we dumped Lego people with it.

On Saturday we went on a hike. The place we hiked had a lot of rocks and caves. We went into a cave and pretended it was very small but it was very big. Another cave had pictures on the rocks. They were neat. There was some snow, and we had snowball fights. One snowball smacked me right in the face and my nose was cold for a few seconds. We had lots of fun.

Multiplication Problems

For math I made Napier’s Rods, with them I can do multiplication! If you have a multiplication problems you want me to do (Has to be less then 7 digits by 7 digits) you can put them in comments, I will do them without a calculator.

Air Museum

Friday, Mark had a meeting in Kalamazoo. Daddy discovered that there was an air museum just down the road from his meeting. So we went for a field trip!

The museum had a lot of planes and other space craft. There were three rooms. The first room had planes and some fake hot air balloons. On one there were the first (fake) living things that went on a hot air balloon, a sheep, a rooster, and a dog. There was lots of airplanes, one was very small. There also was a plane called a Tiger.

The next room had space craft like rockets. It also showed some of the rooms in a shuttle or like in another space craft.

The third room had some more airplanes, mostly from WWII and some from WWI. On a wall there was a plane between the last two rooms, it looked like it follows you. It was neat.

There was some rides, they were fun. One was a merry-go-around, and another you were went up slowly then you drop down fast. My favorite were the Airplane Simulator. In the Airplane Simulator you use controls to make the plane go up, down and side-to-side. Andrea and I did it together, and I steered most of the time. The last ride we went on was another Airplane Simulator, but you could not control it.

Megan and I made air presser cars. You pumped the pump then pressed a button then the cars race down the track.

There was a kid’s room with large foam blocks. I made a marble run, it would be nicer if there was a ball…
